Ready to teach Science?

Starting in Fall of 2009, all of our science teachers will have a load of 4 periods of standards-based CPO Science.  See below for more detailed information for all our teachers.

EXPECTATIONS FOR TEACHERS

The faculty of United for Success commits to a highly collaborative culture and a strong outreach to families and community. While the extra hours listed below are not optional, they are stipended. Teachers have found that the investment made in one another and in our families makes the experience of teaching much more rewarding and fun. Much of the PD described below is developed and led by our teachers.

  • Participate actively in a Professional Learning Community.
  • Participate in two weeks of professional development and collaborative planning before the start of school.
  • Participate in two weekly professional development sessions, one during the regular school day and one after school.
  • Meet weekly with the department or grade-level team.
  • Plan and implement the Advisory program, parent outreach, and student guidance.
  • Prepare for evening events such as Family Nights, Project Expo, and Student-Led Conferences (fall & spring).
  • Participate in staff retreats (3 fabulous days).
  • Develop and implement school-wide practices. This makes a huge difference.
  • Receive coaching from PD coach, content coaches, peers and principal.

Teacher Qualifications


*B.A. or B.S. required, masters degree preferred
*Appropriate CA credential or qualified to apply
*CLAD or BCLAD certification
*Minimum 2 years teaching experience
*Urban experience & Spanish proficiency preferred
